Katie and Derick first met at work back in 2020 and were simply friends for the next year. It's not the most exciting story; they slowly got to know each other through work lunches and office events. Eventually, their friendship turned into a relationship. Katie was nervous to be official with Derick because she knew that if they started dating, then they would get married, because he would never give her a reason to walk away. While Katie took some time to commit, Derick was all in from day one. He truly couldn't imagine a life without the kindest, bravest, funniest, prettiest, smartest, humblest girl in the world. As many of you know, Katie and Derick have always loved golfing together. The beginning of their relationship was filled with golf dates at Cassell Creek Golf Course. They first discovered how aligned their hopes, dreams, and values are on hole 7. As things between Katie and Derick got more serious, Derick became a regular attendee of Sunday golf outings with Katie and her parents. All to say, Cassell Creek is a special place that has played such an important role in their relationship. On April 16, 2023, in front of so many friends and family, Derick got down on one knee on the green of hole 9 and asked Katie to marry him. Katie said yes and proudly displays the golf ball she was using, a Titleist 2, in their living room. And yes, Katie was, is, and always will be the better golfer.
