Love is patient, and so are we! Due to the current circumstances, we have made the difficult decision to postpone our wedding to May 29, 2022 so that we can prioritize everyone's health and safety. Katie and Derek met just after midnight on Halloween at The Bell in Hand Tavern in Boston, a romantic local venue known for building lasting relationships. Katie was dressed as a piece of paper (accompanied by her friend Taylor dressed as rock and Diana dressed as scissors...get it?) and Derek was dressed as an old school basketball player complete with a jersey, headband and short-shorts. While Derek was sporting the short-shorts as a matter of costume accuracy, it was the tone of his seldom-exposed upper thighs that drew Katie in. After a few well-placed mutual jokes and a gin and tonic, Katie and Derek embarked on what would be 9+ years of sarcasm, travel, patriots games and summers at the lake.

The day started out like any other. Couple k-cups in the Keurig and prep for another strong showing in the office. Though on this afternoon, Derek wanted to do a little stroll down the esplanade to enjoy the nice weather as the days of summer weather dwindled. Unbeknownst to Katie, Derek was packing some fresh mineral for this excursion. They were cruising down by the footbridge when Derek brought up what type of rings Katie would be interested in. They were discussing different ring styles and what kind of timeline could work when Derek got on a knee and asked, "How about now?" Derek then dipped Katie and sealed the deal to a thunderous applause from bystanders and passers by. (We made that last part up) Friends and family were waiting at a nearby restaurant to celebrate and the rest is history.
