Our Story - Katie's Perspective

If at first you don't succeed try try try again

I was in my final year of undergrad at USD, and I was asked to come in for an interview for Sales Engineering in Brea, CA and guess who interviewed me? David. Obviously, I got the job 😊. I started working after graduating and moving up to OC, and I didn’t talk to David for probably a year! He was always working on bigger and more important projects, so he probably thought I was young and useless. I would always invite him to go out with our co-workers and I for drinks after work, and he would never show up. Fast forward to early 2018: I moved up at the company and we started working on the same team, and I was finally able to convince him to hangout with me. Yes, unfortunately it took quite a bit of convincing and lots of flirting before he agreed (gotta shoot your shot). We took an Uber to a work event together and I learned he had a similar upbringing to me, he wanted the same things out of life and for his future kids, and he was just trying to find his place in the world -like me. After that night, I was drawn to him and didn’t want to ever be without him. He soon asked me to be his girlfriend and it’s hard to explain but I just knew I was going to eventually marry him. We have bonded over our love of the ocean, good food, exploring new places, and relaxing together since we work so hard throughout the week. I feel truly blessed to have found such a wonderful person, workout buddy, handyman, sous chef, and hardworking partner in David. We love each other so much and he makes me laugh and laugh which is truly key. All I can say is time both flies & stands still when you’re with your best friend. In September 2021, we purchased our home in San Juan Capistrano -where David popped the question! We can’t wait to start this next chapter and truly make our house a home and grow our family!

A Tale of Adventures

I first met Katie when she came in to interview where I was working at the time. She was attractive, smart, athletic, and outgoing so pretty much none of the things women in engineering typically are. We didn’t interact much after the initial interview, but fast forward a year or so and we ended up on a new group the company was putting together. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was very oblivious of her interest in me since I thought her flirting was just part of her sarcastic humor. After lots of persistence from her end, we got to know each other on a more personal level and I couldn’t get enough time with her. The better I got to know her, the more I didn’t want to be away from her. Quickly she became my partner in crime, support system and so much more - she probably doesn’t even know how much of my sanity she has saved over the last few years. We’ve been through more than I could ever imagine together, but going through those adventures has only grown our love for each other. She has helped me laugh through the rough and celebrate through the great. In our latest adventure, we purchased a home together and shortly after moving in, I was able to surprise her and I asked her to marry me in our living room. She is my partner in crime and I couldn’t imagine my life without her. I’m excited and looking forward to our next adventure together in marriage and couldn’t imagine a more perfect partner to be by my side.
