Flight
Award winning Long Beach Airport is definitely the easiest. It's less hassle than LAX and only 15 minutes from the venue. However, flights can be more limited since it's a smaller airport.
Flight
LAX has the most flight availability and better prices, though leaving LAX can be tricky. Ride share is on the top floor in the arrivals at these designated signs. Check the times when you land as it can take a while for them to arrive (up to an hour!) during rush hour. An Uber/Lyft is going to run $30-50 for a trip to LGB. There's also an easy, straight shot bus that goes from LAX to Downtown Long Beach (Flyaway Bus: https://www.flylax.com/flyaway%20bus#Routes) for $9pp. Highly recommended! Anticipate 30min (no traffic) to 1.5hr (traffic) to get from LAX to Long Beach.
Flight
SNA is another option if you can find a flight in. It's not very crowded and the traffic around it isn't bad. It's about 40 minutes away from Long Beach so an Uber/Lyft will run about $30-50.
Hotel
This gorgeous hotel is located right by the Queen Mary, and has a delicious restaurant on site. A free red bus called the PassPort can take you from the Hotel Maya straight to Downtown Long Beach (and vice versa!). There's also an AquaLink stop right outside the hotel!
Hotel
AirBnB makes it easy to stay in the fun, interesting neighborhoods of Long Beach. We recommend Downtown Long Beach, 4th st/Retro Row (our neighborhood!) and Belmont Shore/Heights. An easy rule of thumb is to stay south of 4th street. If you plan to rent a car, verify your AirBnB comes with a parking space as street parking is a competitive sport here. Feel free to call if you want our opinion on an AirBnB location.
Travel Note
Long Beach is an extremely walkable and bike friendly city. If you stay close to the ocean and don't mind using the occasional ride share (to the venue), you should be fine without a rental car. A free red bus called the PassPort roams downtown Long Beach, and it's easy to rent a bicycle or scooter to move between neighborhoods.
Travel Note
Long Beach's public transit has boats! It's the best way to spend a gorgeous day out on the water. Take the Aqualink to Alamitos Bay Landing, and stop for a beer at Ballast Point Brewery on the water. Then head to Hotel Maya for sunset dinner and drinks overlooking the bay. Or hop on in the morning for a round trip loop while sipping a bloody mary from the bar on the boat.
