I like to say that I scoped him out, because it sounds funny, and a little creepy. I had seen Dan a few times at the young adult church group we both going to at the time. Who can blame me for noticing those wonderful golden locks of his? We officially met in October 2017 at a Sunday service. As I drove in, I saw Dan walking into the church. I didn't think much of it until I walked into the sanctuary, over to the area that my friend Erin and I usually sat in. And there was the golden-locked boy sitting in our area. So, I gracefully plopped myself down in the seat right in front of him. During the greeting time, we did the typical single-person-near-a-cute-person routine: say hi casually, then pray throughout the sermon that the cute person doesn't make a quick exit. Thankfully, the golden-locked boy stuck around long enough for us to chat a bit, and get a better look at each other. ;) After hanging out a Halloween party together (where I went as the renowned, brave, and fashionable heroine, Deb, from Napoleon Dynamite), Dan asked me if we could hang out sometime. I said, "Ok cool!", and we planned a date at Black Dog, my favorite coffee shop. Fast forward through a year and 8 months of giggling, coffee dates, ice cream runs, hikes, movie nights, and Dan moving all over the KC area, to Saturday, July 6, 2019, the day he proposed! And now we're getting married, just 4 months and 10 days later! Thanks for being part of our lives and our big day! Bonus pro tip for any single fellas: the best pick-up line, "I teach 4th grade." You don't even have to have golden locks for it to work. ;)
