Coulson and Katie lived in the same tiny town, went to the same college, and frequented the same stores and establishments for many years without crossing paths. In a town as small as Ellensburg, that is hard to do! The stars finally aligned one spring when Katie and Coulson met at a bar. No it wasn't tinder or bumble that brought these star crossed lovers together, they met in real life for the first time at what locals affectionately call "The Tier". Katie was out with her friends and Coulson with his, and they just so happened to share a mutual friend. She thought Coulson shared her enthusiasm for Eric Church songs but Coulson later admits he exaggerated his enthusiasm just a bit to keep her interested. They both couldn't stop thinking about each other after that first meeting. Their first date was a month later, a summers day trip to Lake Cle Elum and dinner at the Sunset Cafe. Their second date was a day later at the Pearl in Ellensburg and the third date was a day after that at Ellensburg Pasta Co. They both fell head over heels for each other and were soon "Official". In December 2021, Coulson took Katie up to the snowy hills of Manastash to find a Christmas tree. After finding the perfect tree, Coulson got down on one knee and popped the question. She said "YES!!!!!!" and the rest is history
