Chuck and Katie met for the first time in early August 2023 at Barrio in Tremont, Ohio. They found each other on Hinge, a dating app at the end of July 2023. Chuck asked her out, but Katie told him she wouldn't be free until she came back from her sister-n-law's bachelorette. So he waited for her. But while she was on the bachelorette they texted and got to know each other. She learned he was a Denison University graduate, so Katie immediately texted her best friend Allison who is also a Denison graduate. Katie had to see if she knew him. Allison told her, "I don't know him. But he's either a huge nerd or a dud." As it turned out, he was a huge nerd and a great guy lol. The first date happened. Conversation was easy. For once they were both on a date where they talked beyond surface level topics. After several dates, Katie asked Chuck if he was serious about dating her. He said yes. To which she replied, "I hope you have a nice suit, because my brother gets married in a couple weeks!" After her brother's wedding they knew that they were it for each other. Katie told Chuck she only had one stipulation if they were to get married: The wedding must be at the Chautauqua Institution. She grew up vacationing on the lake her whole life, and has dreamed of her wedding there for years. Chuck said not a problem -- funny thing is he also grew up vacationing there and was one of his favorite places. They even realized that both of their families vacationed there around the same time and at the same condo complex, Chautauqua Lake Estates. Chuck and Katie believe in angels. They know that their grandparents were working hard in heaven looking over them planning all this. Thank God they finally met. Nothing is easy. Relationships are work. You must communicate. You must be on the same page. You must be selfless. And always remember no one is perfect. Chuck and Katie recognize that. Life is short. But yet so so so long at times. Chuck and Katie look forward to a lifetime of figuring it out because no one has the answers. Which is why we invited all of you. The people we trust the most in our lives. The people we can count on. The people who will never lie to us. The people who will have our back when we need guidance. We love you all so much!
