My mom notified me of a work party / bonfire she was hosting at her house and inquired if I wanted to come. I remembered my mom talking about a "Katie" she worked with so I just assumed this "Katie" would be at the bonfire. After debating on if I should go or not, I went, primarily just to keep my mom happy. As I made my way through her house, I went out the back door and down a couple of steps to the backyard patio. I saw her. "Katie" was sitting between a couple of her co-workers on a patio set my mom has since given to us. I was introduced to Katie and also introduced to a cooler a couple of seconds later. Fast forward approximately thirty minutes.. I observed Katie sitting by herself on a bale of hay in the middle of the lawn. I didn't decide to go talk to her, it just happened. We had officially met. Within three seconds of me saying hello to Katie for the second time we were swarmed by my mom, my sister and her now husband, and another co-worker of Katie's like we were the honey of a beehive. The night went by fast. I left before "Katie" did and I was worried about her long drive home. I sent her a message on Facebook telling her to drive safe, we had communicated through Facebook before we met in person. Katie had reached out asking what my mom's favorite kind of wine was. That's how it all started. That's how we met. We continued to talk and just like that our relationship began. I ask Katie from time to time if she thinks we would have still met if neither one of us went to my mom's party. She says "we would have eventually met". Thanks mom, thanks Facebook. Stay tuned for our proposal story.
It was a actually a HOT October night if you could believe it or not when I met Brian, I should have known it was one for the books! I went to his mom's house for a bonfire with people from work, I was sitting down on the patio talking to one of doctors when Brian walked up and smiled at me... He introduced himself and shook my hand like a gentleman but as many of you know I am sure when he smiles, I mean really SMILES those dimples can really get distracting, so I am not quite sure what else he said besides "Hi I am Brian". Through the rest of the night my co-workers Emily and Denice were giving me trouble saying that Brian was looking at me and I laughed it off and just sat by the bonfire. Emily said she was going to get a drink and would be right back leaving me alone by the fire, that is when Brian came over. He came over and we made small talk and bantered back and fourth for about three minutes before his mom came over followed by his sister Kelley and her husband Matthew, oh and then Emily came back too lol. It was pretty funny how everyone "casually" came over, but the night was still going. I listened as Brian and his sister made jokes and mocked each other. I watched Brian with his mom joke and laugh making her laugh too, with his sarcasm and humor. He even got Emily and myself laughing. He lit up the sky that night not once but twice for me, 1st when I first saw him smile and 2nd when I saw him making everyone laugh and filing up so many hearts with joy and laughter. Eventually I headed out, and he made sure that I drove safely. We talked for a few months after that and became good friends, I think it was really good that we developed such a good friendship first too, because now he is my BEST FRIEND and I instantly felt comfortable talking to him. I not only was comfortable but I wanted to, I wanted to tell him everytime something good, bad, happy, sad, anything happened.... Then he asked me on a date. Stayed tuned to hear about OUR FIRST DATE!
