Katie was working in the city when her friend Kelley asked for a favor: could Katie email one of her and her (then) boyfriend Matt's good friends to share advice about an ad agency she used to work at? "He wants to be a copywriter and thinks this job might help. Just humor him and talk about the agency," Kelley told her. So Katie emailed this guy, Brian. They discussed the agency, the city, and more. They really seemed to click (Brian's email game is on point). After a few messages were exchanged back and forth, Kelley had an idea: "Matt and I think you and Brian should date," she told Katie. Katie was game and Brian was too. So they went on their date in the city and had a great time. Then a 2nd. Then a 3rd, and then they were officially boyfriend-girlfriend. Which Kelley was concerned was a little too soon, but it seems to be working out okay.

Katie & Brian were dating for almost 5 years when they traveled to France for their friends Megan and Marc's wedding. Before heading to dinner one night in Normandy, Brian said the car needed gas so they had to make a stop. Katie looked at the gas meter. It was over half full. The "gas station" was a sprawling chateau and garden. Brian and Katie were the only people there except for a woman taking pictures with her daughter. They walked past centuries-old statues and a lush garden. Then they stopped. Brian got down on one knee and told Katie he loved her and couldn't imagine life without her. He asked for her hand in marriage, and Katie said yes through tears of joy. Brian then turned and shouted, "Bonjour Sabina!" The woman was their engagement photographer. The girl was her daughter. The engagement photos you see throughout the site were taken seconds after Brian popped the question.
