We met on February 1, 2019. It was love at first sight... sort of. Andrew and I met at Cisco Brewery on Nantucket on a Friday night. We started talking and we decided to get coffee the next day. I, Katie, cancelled last minute the next day, and being on a small island, Andrew saw me an hour of me cancelling at the local Stop & Shop. Andrew kept pursuing, and finally, we decided to meet for a drink at Lola 41. One glass of wine each and three hours later... we knew there was something special.
After 1 year of dating, we knew we had found each other to marry. Andrew had planned the entire proposal and it was truly spectacular. He rented a catamaran that sailed out of Anna Maria Island into Tampa Bay. With much bravery, he got down on one knee, yes on the catamaran, and proposed! It was a sure "yes!" Best day ever.
Well, COVID-19 became a thing shortly after Andrew proposed back in February. We had started the wedding planning for next April 2021. Yet, life took its turns, and we found a different route to go down. Rewind back to January of 2020. Andrew, a knowledgable and skilled golf superintendent, decided to throw his resume into a pile for a position on Martha's Vineyard. Knowing it would be extremely competitive, he wanted to just apply for practice. Two months later, the phone rang from Farm Neck Golf Club on Martha's Vineyard, and Andrew was in the running. After two rounds of interviews, many phone calls and many discussions of "what-if's," Andrew got the head job May of 2020. We were thrilled! With the uncertainty of this nation and if we would ever have an actual wedding during this pandemic, we decided to just elope, secretly... on Nantucket, where we met. The two Connecticut kids ran together to the church to arrange a small ceremony and everything fell into place for September 5, 2020. Everything about that day was truly heavenly. We are now SO Excited to celebrate with all our friends and family in January! With much love. Katie & Andrew
