We first crossed paths when Katie moved to Austin to begin her career as a graphic designer while Alex was finishing up his undergrad at UT. In December of 2014, Katie reached out with a great joke on OkCupid. After some back and forth banter, our first date took place a few days later with some awesome Mexican food. We soon discovered a mutual love of cheesy food and even cheesier jokes, and it wasn’t long before we started spending time together daily. The rest is history!
Fun Fact: Katie proposed to Alex just 3 months into dating. We actually didn’t become officially engaged until September 2018 when Alex planned an entire weekend of romantic surprises leading up to a proposal. We had a trip down memory lane and had dates at all of the places in Austin we had great memories of. Katie definitely noticed that something was fishy by this point. At the end of the weekend, Alex took Katie to a scenic area off the Colorado River where he popped the question. Instead of a ring box he used a figurine made by Katie’s favorite artist with the ring hidden inside.
