We Eloped!

Marcus and Katie met in June of 2014 when Katie was Marcus's "Lead Instructor" for the NYC Teaching Fellows. Marcus flirted on his "exit ticket" with Katie by offering to bring Katie coffee and she emailed him her coffee order. A few weeks after they met Marcus dropped the program to pursue other things, and Katie offered to meet to go over his resume and try to convince him to teach. It ended up being their first date (Marcus says Katie knew but it's still a point of conflict). They dated for about a year, but the timing wasn't quite right, and in 2016, Marcus moved to Colorado and he and Katie lost touch. After years of no contact, Marcus and Katie reconnected in early 2023. After a few FaceTimes they decided Marcus should come for a visit. Their original spark was still there, as well as the friendship they built ten years before. The timing was right this time. Marcus proposed in September of 2023, and in December of 2023 Marcus relocated to New York to build a life with Katie and Wallena in Nyack. They were married Feb 21, 2024. Katie’s dad performed the ceremony where they were surrounded by family.
