Please know that we will be partying in our little patch of sagebrush. We'll be listening and dancing to music in our dusty driveway and in our dirt backyard and around the hay barn. Our house is surrounded by shrubs, grass, and open space that our herd grazes, eats, and well.... ya. So stiletto high-heels, or white shoes, or an extra long dress/white pants may not be ideal wear for the venue, as they could get dusty.
It's the classic story, woman hires man to go trap desert chickens at night in the middle of nowhere Nevada and chase them through the sagebrush. After four months of stupid jokes over texts and government emails (which in retrospect.. probably unprofessional), visits to the field site, field days in the back-country, and late night/early morning drinks around a fire, Ian was able to convince Katie to play along. Katie and Ian began calling their outfit Jackalope Ranch since they (Katie) got her first place and began collecting animals. For us, Jackalope Ranch represents our place and our mixed up, menagerie of a herd (donkeys, mules, dogs and all), no matter where that herd is. We're very excited for you to see Jackalope Ranch and what it means to us.
