We can never agree on how we met, but we both like Gavin’s story best. :) Gavin was walking out of a priesthood discernment night at Notre Dame where he met Katie (who was making use of the only available rocking chairs on campus with a dear friend, John Michael, who then introduced us). Gavin was the most well dressed, loving, friendly, and humble person Katie had ever met (and he still is). The following summer, during Notre Dame Vision, we began going for long runs together. Between many stories and shared memories from childhood, Gavin’s epic puns, and Katie's heart melting seeing Gavin's incredible care and mercy for every single person he met, affection grew to deep admiration, and then much more. When Gavin agreed to come with Katie to visit her grandparents in Iowa at the end of Vision, that was it. After 3 years of engagement, thousands of miles of road trips to visit each other and family, 2 moves to Florida, one to Iowa, and 2 back to South Bend, and hours of driving I-10 across the state to visit each other, we are so deeply grateful to be getting closer to the wedding and marriage! From the same people who brought you the hits “He Proposed Already?” and “They’ve Been Engaged How Long?!” comes a new blockbuster sure to spice up your summer: “Wedding Bells at Last!” We cannot begin to thank our family, friends, and mentors for the ways they have walked with us and guided us all this time and for all of the love, care, wisdom, faith, and guidance they have given us through the whole journey. We thank God for every most amazing day.
