As members of the California Aggie Marching Band-uh! at UC Davis, we would often cross paths but never had much of a chance to interact. Katie remembered Billy as that guy that mostly wore Legend of Zelda t-shirts, and Billy remembered Katie as that girl who once awkwardly complemented him on said t-shirts. It wasn't until a trip to an away game in Utah that sparks began to fly. We quickly bonded over a shared love of gaming, the outdoors, and Terry Pratchett, and have been adventuring together ever since.
The proposal happened when we were in Monterey celebrating our anniversary. On the first evening of our trip, we took a nighttime walk on the coast. We paused at the appropriately-named Lover's Point, where Billy dropped a knee and popped the question. Katie said yes (of course).
Katie fell in love with YMCA Camp Campbell when attending a retreat here on her 30th birthday, where she couldn't help but take a mental note of the beautiful outdoor chapel in the middle of a redwood grove. We both have a deep love of the redwoods, so it seemed natural to get married in this amazing setting. Since we are both so fortunate to have an abundance of friends and family we were worried that we might not be able to fully interact with everyone in a single evening...so we decided to make it a whole weekend! We are so looking forward to spending time with our guests in this special place.
