Katie and Alexa met at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in July 2020. They were using the dating app Hinge, and after both "swiping right" on each other, Katie captured Alexa's heart with her exceptional opening line of, "Hey." On their first date - in Madison Square Park, sitting on a picnic blanket 6 feet apart, sharing a bottle of wine and hoping neither would walk away with Covid, they realized they had a LOT in common. First off, Alexa had met Matt Ross, Katie's younger brother, on their first day of freshman year at the University of Miami! The two became friends through their 4 years of college. After graduating, Alexa moved to NYC, and started working at MLB - coincidentally- where Matt was also working at the time! The last serendipitous connection the two made on this date included Katie's late dog, Baron, who had passed away 8 months earlier, just shy of his 7th birthday. Whenever Matt dog-sat Baron when Katie was out of town, Matt, (knowing Alexa's love of dogs), would ask Alexa if she wanted to come hang out with a pup - she always said yes. Though she knew Baron was “Matt Ross’s sister’s dog,” she never met the “sister;” it wasn’t until mid-conversation about cute dogs on this first date that she realized that the girl sitting opposite her was *that* sister, and Baron was *that* dog! Alexa had not only spent time with Baron multiple times, but she also followed the Instagram account Katie had made for him, and they found that Alexa had “liked” all of the pictures Katie had posted of him <3 Anyone who knew Baron knew how special this connection was. Although Alexa never knew Katie and Baron together, this was a special point of connection that they both felt deeply. As Alexa was quarantining at her family’s home in MA, and was back-and-forth from NYC over the course of the summer, Katie and Alexa started officially dating at the end of August 2020, and have never looked back. They share a love of all things traveling, skiing, dogs, sushi, beaches, and crossword puzzles. 5 years later, they cannot wait to celebrate their love for each other with our friends and family on October 4!
