If you need a ride from the Rapid City airport to your destination, please arrange with us or another guest that has a car in advance! We will be coordinating trips to Rapid City on Friday and Saturday to help pick up guests. Uber and Lyft are not widely available in the smaller towns, but there are taxi services: https://www.deadwood.com/businesses/taxis/. If you plan to do lots of roaming around while in town, consider driving or renting a car.
In South Dakota, we will arrange carpooling and shuttles up to the cabin. No shuttle in Kansas City, but the hotels on our list are within walking distance and there is also a free downtown streetcar that you can use to get between different downtown districts.
No. We will be providing small appetizers, but we strongly encourage you to eat prior to the reception (especially if you plan to partake in the open bar). See the "Things to Do" section for some of our favorite local restaurants!
Semiformal attire is great for South Dakota, just be sure to dress for the weather and wear heels that can walk on gravel and grass. Cocktail attire for Kansas City, and if it helps (I live for a theme), Tom's Town has a very 20s prohibition vibe.
There will not be a reception with DJ and dancing in South Dakota, however we will have dinner and drinks at Lead Country Club immediately following the ceremony. After dinner, the couple plans to go bar-hopping in Deadwood with anyone that would like to join.
Absolutely! For those attending the ceremony, South Dakota is a wonderful place for a family vacation and you might consider extending your stay to see some of its best attractions. Ask us about the best spots to hit across the state!
