Along the east bank of the Monongahela River, tucked away in the friendly confines of Bridgeside Point at the University of Pittsburgh, Kati and Holden met while studying to become physical therapists. Amidst the angst of navigating new social and academic environments, they found comfort in the company of a tight knit group of friends. Many hours studying, dissecting a human body, and lunch time debates over trivial topics would only serve in bringing them all closer together. Though neither Holden nor Kati would ever let on that they were interested in the other, their friends sensed a growing connection as they entered their second summer of school. Without the help of a loose-lipped Dana Maselli and a hell-bent matchmaker in Kiersten Bradley, Kati and Holden may still be skirting the idea of their happy beginning.
Under the guise of a Ladies Club weekend, Holden enlisted the help of fellow Ladies Club members, Caroline Talda and Kristen Haug, to make the dream come true. With ring in tow, they guided an unsuspecting Kati up the path of Horsetooth Rock, the site of her and Holden’s first Fort Collins adventure. Slicing through gale force headwinds for most of their ascent, they were eventually greeted by a still and picturesque summit, complete with a rainbow backdrop and dove flyover (totally planned). In the ensuing moments both Holden and Kati blacked out, but thankfully Caroline and Kristen were there to recount the event and confirm their successful engagement. Then, Kati's family popped out from behind a tree. It was crazy!
