On Belle Isle, very close to Flynn Pavilion and Oudolf Garden. A world-class conservatory, built in 1904 and recently completely renovated. One of our favorite places to visit in Detroit - We like to walk through the diverse gardens in the conservatory, or even just around the lily pond and perennial gardens outside.
On Belle Isle, just east of Flynn Pavilion. A beautiful garden to stroll through any time of year, and one of our favorite places on the island. We hope you'll take a few minutes to walk through and look around, either before or after the wedding ceremony.
Located in Grosse Pointe. If you're in town for a few days, we encourage a visit here! You can tour the mansion and learn Ford family history, or just walk through the scenic property and gardens. We enjoy birdwatching on Bird Island or strolling through the gardens and lakefront near the house. There is a restaurant on-site with terrific lunches, but limited hours. There is a little snack/drink counter in the visitor center, too. Details on the website. The grounds passes are $7, and house tours are $15 (May 2025).
Dearborn is a distance from the wedding location, but if you're in town for a few days, it's always worth a visit. You can't see it all in a day! There are two museums there - The Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation and also Greenfield Village (next to the museum). As of May 2025, tickets are $34 for the museum ($25.50 for kids), and $37 for Greenfield Village ($27.75 for kids). Have a look through their website for the latest exhibits. Tom says: If you go to the museum, don't miss the "Driven to Win: Racing in America" exhibit! 🏎️
If you're in town for a few days - The DIA is one of the finest art museums in the country, and one of our favorite places anywhere. Want to see original works by van Gogh, Renoir, Picasso, Monet, or the world-famous Diego Rivera "Detroit Industry" murals? Modern art? Sculpture? They have stunning collections of nearly anything imaginable. The area around the museum district and Wayne State University is very busy, and parking can require some patience, but the DIA is an incredible experience. As of May 2025, admission is $20 ($10 for seniors; $8 for kids).
This one is a bit of a drive - It's out near our house. But if you're in town for a few days, this is a relaxing afternoon at a working vineyard and winery. Nice people, who enjoy sharing their knowledge about farming and winemaking. Hours and menu are on the website.
