Kathy and Mark met at a church camp in Deering, New Hampshire in August of 1974. Kathy was 17 and a senior camper from Massachusetts. Mark was 18 and working on staff while residing in Florida. They had a long-distance on and off again relationship over the next 13 years writing letters and making late night phone calls (remember when the rates went down after 11 pm?) and visiting when they could. In 1987 they decided to go their separate ways. Mark sent Kathy a birthday card in July of 2021 and they resumed letter writing then phone calls before meeting face to face in September of 2022.
