Kathy, I love you. I am excited to spend the rest of my life with you. When we first met a couple of months ago (haha), I fell in love with your genuine and pure heart, your caring nature, and your smile that brightens a room. I love how you put your family first and have openly welcomed my family and friends into your life. You have accepted the facts: You're better with tools than I, we might not be on time because of me, my driving skills are nothing to be desired, and I lose my ability to hear you if I am watching any sport...but you're still here. We've had wonderful times together and we have had challenging times together. We have embraced the good times and come together to get through the struggles. I know we will have many more of each, and we will handle the joys and sorrows together as one. May we always enjoy our fun competitive battles with games, where we each enjoy being "the winner"...but in life moving forward, your wins will be my wins and your losses will be my losses and I will always be on your team. But good luck in ever beating me in HORSE. I promise to stand by your side through the ups and the downs. I promise to support you in your life goals. I promise to love you with all my heart for all of our days. I look forward to the life God has for us, and I will do my best to be your protector, encourager, and partner in life.
Chad, I knew that I wanted to marry you the moment I met you, even though you weren’t aware that it was a date (haha). But I could already tell that there was something about you and I immediately trusted you. The first time you kissed me, standing in the driveway after ice skating, it took my breath away. And to this day, almost 10 years later, I can still say the same. You once wrote me a poem called “Light Inside” (this was several years ago, I don’t even know if you remember it) where you told me that I bring out the best in you. You wrote that you’re at peace when you’re with me and you feel honored that you get to be my defender. I want you to know that you do each of these things for me and I feel honored that you’ve chosen me to be your wife. I’ll do my best to communicate that to you every day moving forward. There aren’t many people in this world who are more kind, more generous, and more thoughtful than you. I am very lucky to have you in my life. Today, in front of our closest family and friends, I want to make you some promises. I promise to listen to you, to support you, and to challenge you. I promise to love you as you are and to never judge you. I promise to celebrate your accomplishments, and to be your rock in times of struggle. But most importantly, I promise to love you through the ups and downs and to never quit on you. I love you with all my heart, to the moon and back.
