We first met while working at UPS in Visalia and quickly became good friends. After a couple of years, KD left UPS and they spent that summer hanging out nonstop before she moved to LA with her best friend, Coby. Things shifted one night when Ryan came over to KD’s brother Corey’s house to watch the Stranger Things finale. Without knowing, he showed up with the exact same snacks Corey had — Reese’s, Sour Patch, and Starbursts — which earned him some points right away. That same night, he met Corey’s girlfriend (now wife), Allison, who greeted him with, “I’ve heard so much about you!” Ryan immediately thought KD must have been talking about him and started seeing her differently. (Spoiler: Allison was just being friendly, but luckily the feeling was mutual for KD anyway). A couple of weeks later, Ryan officially asked KD to be his girlfriend. From there, we survived a year of long distance filled with weekend visits—ski trips, Dodgers games, Disneyland, concerts, late nights out, spending holidays together with each other’s families, and plenty of future talk. Eventually, we bought our first home in Hanford. Six months later, Ryan started the CHP academy, and they adopted two cats, Benjamin and Button, to keep KD company. When Ryan graduated, he was assigned to Ventura County, and we made the move to the beach, later adding our dog Maple to our little family. On March 4th, Ryan surprised KD with a proposal on the beach at sunset after they enjoyed some tacos from Beach House on the pier. It was simple, private, and perfect. Now, we can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together and are so excited to celebrate this new chapter surrounded by the people we love most.
