In the midst of a global pandemic, we met like most couples did - on a dating app. It's not the most romantic love story, but it's ours. We started talking because we found common ground by sharing our horrible and slightly traumatic past dating experiences. While Rob's involved hitting a man on a bike, Kathryn's involved a dead cat. The debate is still up in the air as to who's date was worse. On our first date, we closed out the restaurant. On our second and third dates, we did the same. I think it's easy to say that for both of us, we realized pretty early on that this might lead to a better outcome than our previous dates had. Sometimes the messiest roads lead to beautiful destinations, right? At least that's what we think.
Since 2013, Kathryn has been vacationing in York Beach, Maine at her family's second home. The moment school lets out, Kathryn can typically be found exploring downtown York, reading a book on Long Sands Beach or eating mounds of blueberry pie ice cream from Mrs. and Me. Throughout the years, it’s become Kathryn's happy place and since 2020, a place that she now shares with Rob. It only made sense that it would also become the place we got engaged. It was the last weekend in August and Rob went up to York to spend the last few days of Kathryn's summer vacation alongside her. Kathryn anticipated that the proposal might be coming; however, after a scenic mountain hike, a visit to an animal sanctuary, a stop at a local brewery AND dinner at their favorite restaurant, Kathryn still did not have a ring on her finger. After dinner, Rob convinced a very reluctant and annoyed Kathryn to take a sunset walk on Long Sands Beach, where he then proceeded to get down on one knee and ask the question Kathryn had anxiously been waiting for. The moment was perfect, but what made it that much better was the fact that Kathryn's Mother and Father were secretly hiding behind the scenes to witness the whole thing. The rest is history, so let the fun begin! We cannot wait to celebrate with you!
