It went a lil something like this...
I met the love of my life when I was 15. Did I know it at the time? Not at all. What I did know is that it felt like time stood still and everything in my life felt calm when he was around me. I remember the first time I saw Michael. I was applying for a job at Presti’s Pizza and Pasta in Maple Valley, Washington. I was sitting in the corner booth and he came out from the kitchen, he looked over and I couldn’t stop staring back. He kept going back and forth from the kitchen, each time looking over at me. After what felt like a lifetime, he came over and introduced himself, “Hi! I’m Mike!” At the time, he was in college and I was in high school. For years there was just innocent flirting and teasing at work. Michael loved to make me blush. Unfortunately, this came to an end when I had to move back to Illinois with my family and we didn’t keep in contact. Ten years later I found Michael on Facebook. He was living in Las Vegas. We had the most amazing connection. We could talk all night long about anything and everything, not caring if we were going to be sleep deprived. However, I guess the time was just not right. We didn’t speak for another 10 years until I messaged him again. We would text and talk and over time it turned into me pressuring him to let me visit him. Finally, he gave in and I flew to Arizona. We went hiking, baseball games and just enjoyed each other’s company. I didn’t want to leave him and was planning my next trip before I left. We again would talk until early morning and go to work sleep deprived but I loved this man and I would have listened to him sleep instead of hanging up the phone. I made a couple trips to see Michael and it got harder and harder to be away from each other. We decided that I would move to Arizona and here we are planning a wedding. Everyday I am blessed to wake up next to the love of my life who makes time stand still and my world calm. --Katie
