Dearest family and friends, Lawrence and I have made the difficult but, we believe, necessary decision to postpone our wedding in order to safeguard the health and wellbeing of all our guests and vendors during this difficult time. Thankfully it seems that businesses around the world are accommodating the changes and cancellations arising in response to Coronavirus, so we’re hopeful that the plans you may have made already can be amended. The good news is we will all have a celebration of love and happiness to look forward to when everything begins to clear up! Lawrence and I will decide on a new date for our wedding and let you know as soon as we can. We hope that you will all still be able to join us when that date comes! Until then, be safe, stay healthy, and although we may not be able to share hugs, we can share our love and support for each other! Sending you our love and best wishes, Kathryn and Lawrence
Kathryn was on vacation in Kona, Hawaii where Lawrence lived and worked. After an afternoon of jet skiing with her stepbrother Max, they decided to grab a cocktail at a local bar restaurant that is a favorite to Kathryn's family and friends. Lawrence was bartending that afternoon. He had a long night celebrating his birthday the evening before and was in no mood to chat. However, Kathryn and Lawrence soon started bantering and joking around. Kathryn remembers when the sun reflected off the ocean into his blue eyes and she felt her heart stop. They made plans to go for a hike and go swimming waterfalls for a couple of days later. It is the most epic first date Kathryn has ever been taken on. A day of hiking through the jungle, sliding down water flumes, happy hour and then sunset on the beach. One date turned into three days and the rest is history.
When Kathryn and Lawrence moved back from Hawaii to California it was just in time for her 30th birthday. It is their tradition that instead of buying gifts for each other, they go on a trip somewhere for their birthday. The plan was to visit Japan for 10 days. However, due to large amounts of Bay Area traffic they missed their flight and ended up in Zurich, Switzerland and the Swiss Alps instead. On their second day in Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland they were hiking about the valley and exploring the beautiful Swiss countryside and vistas. Kathryn was getting hungry and tired and was whining that she wanted a beer (surprise, surprise). The always patient Lawrence was getting slightly frustrated because he was looking for the perfect spot to propose. He finally found the perfect spot. Lawrence told Kathryn that he wanted to take her picture overlooking the valley below with the snow peaked mountains in the back. But he had to change his lens. As he knelt to one knee to change his lens he pulled out the ring box instead and asked Kathryn if she would do him the honor of being his wife. Stunned, she gasped YES! As they made their way down toward the train to head back to their hotel they stopped and celebrated their life together with some Prosecco in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
