Our love story started at Vineyard Vines in Birmingham, Alabama. Grady had just graduated from Alabama and returned from hiking the Pacific Crest Trail while Kathryn had just retired from dancing, working on finishing her undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Kathryn and Grady quickly became friends as they spent a lot fo time working at Vineyard Vines together, and flirting. Kathryn became a part-time manager at Vineyard Vines right as Grady decided to ask her out on her first date. They spent their first date at the dog park, of course. Grady was extremely awkward and gave Kathryn a side hug at the end. She assumed they were just friends, not realizing it was a date. Then Grady asked her on another date. Kathryn suggested drinks, hoping that would loosen him up a bit. It worked. Kathryn beat Grady in ten straight rounds of connect 4 at The Atomic, which became their favorite bar in Birmingham. Grady and Kathryn were forced to keep their love a secret for several months as Kathryn was technically his manager. The secret eventually came out. They quickly became best friends and loved experiencing new things together which is what led them to Colorado.
