We're Getting Married and You're Invited!

We have no intention of telling the whole story of how we met and fell in love- such a tale would be tedious at best. A relatively vague summary of events, though, is entirely consumable, so this is that. We first met a million years ago when both of us were still in High School through our mutual best friend Josh McNatt. We were friendly but "appropriately distant", as Alex was far too cool for Katie, and Katie was both too cool for Alex and dating the previously mentioned best friend. The appropriate label would be something akin to "friendly acquaintances" with splashes of unknowing mutual interest. Flash Forward over a decade, Katie and Josh have long since separated with both Katie and Alex maintaining that mutual interest and firm belief that the other is far too cool to be associated with the self. Meetings between us were few and far between but universally pleasant, and it wouldn't be a stretch to say that we were friends, if a bit on the distant and uncommunicative side. After we both attended a party hosted by the McNatts (after a period of about 3 years of no contact) Katie confided in Josh that she wished she could hang out with Alex more, but that she was too shy to ask. Josh, being the wonderful friend that he is, would not let that stand and told Katie that either she'd tell Alex or Josh would on her behalf. And so it was squeaked out one day in Imi and Lorna's driveway that Katie would love to hang out with Alex more and again. Despite the barely articulated squeaking on Katie's part, we did manage to actually connect and hang out, wherein it was decided that we wanted to be better friends than the loose 'no contact friendship' we had been maintaining for the better part of a decade, so we resolved to actually maintain an open line of communication despite the fact that Katie had moved to the polar opposite side of the country in those 3 years of no contact. Shortly thereafter, Katie flew back across the country to Massachusetts, and both Katie and Alex proceed to spend the next 3 next months spending nearly every waking minute talking to each other - First through text, then through Discord calls while playing a favorite video game together, and finally reaching the point where they are spending around 14 hours a day in video calls together, only going to sleep when Alex catches the sun rising through Katie's webcam. Alex, making one of the boldest decisions of his life, decides to fly out to Massachusetts for a 3 Week long stay wherein they realize that they've fallen madly in love. When Alex returned to Arizona, both of them went utterly insane. Katie decided to move back to AZ for health reasons and to be closer to family. We move in together, and around a year and a half later Katie proposes to Alex under the starlit sky out in the middle of nowhere. After over a year of planning the wedding is finally here! Not to change our relationship, but to boldly celebrate the bringing together of our two families.
