We're Getting Married!

John and Katie met on August 4th, 2023. Katie was going through a rough patch, having experienced a rough breakup earlier that year, and dating again didn't seem too appealing. However, after much encouragement from her parents, she attended a game night with a group called the Catholic Young Adults Group of Saint Monica's. John was also experiencing a rough patch in his life, unable to discern if he was being called to the priesthood or if he was being called to the future possibility of married life. He felt that an answer couldn't come soon enough. His best friend, Ryan, encouraged him to attend the same event, and little did he know his future bride was there! John helped several of his friends struggle to build a ping-pong table for the game night, while other members of the Young Adults Group including Katie, played games like cards and shuffleboard. John looked up and noticed the young brunette-haired woman playing 2 against 1 with the shuffleboard game. After finishing building the ping-pong table, John walked across the room, beer in hand, stood by Katie, and asked if she needed another player to even out the odds. Katie, while surprised, answered she did and the two played together. It all went from there! Katie and John spent the evening talking and playing, enjoying each other's company and sharing stories about their families. John says to this day, it was the number of siblings that Katie had that shocked him the most about her! What further drew him to her was her passion and the fact that she worked with cancer patients! On August 6th, they went to see Mission: Impossible 6, Fallout. After coming out of the AMC Theater, Katie looked at John and asked if they were dating now, and he laughed and asked her if she would like to. Katie smiled and said yes, and from then on, Katie and John spent a lot of time together. Either with friends, family, or just themselves whether that was watching a movie or taking a long walk, nothing seemed boring to them when they were together... Now here they are, a year and a half later, following a shocking but wonderful gift-wrapped proposal on Christmas Day of 2024, ready and planning for the next chapter of their lives together!
