After making the big decision to buy a home together in September 2023, we decided we didn't want to let one more day go by without being married! We eloped in downtown Charleston at Hampton Park on a rainy Thursday afternoon. We bought a suit off the rack, a wedding dress online, and made a bouquet from some flowers picked up at Trader Joe's. We had dinner just the two of us at the same restaurant and table that we had our first date. It was perfect, and just for us. In a world where weddings can become the focus, we wanted to ensure we were investing in our marriage most importantly. We originally wanted to elope at the Battery in downtown Charleston, but the rain made it pretty impossible come that morning given the lack of light for photos from the amount of trees! We last minute changed our venue to Hampton Park remembering we had one of our very first dates there. We remembered later that there was a couple who got married in the gazebo that day, and it felt like a full-circle moment as we said our vows in the same gazebo. We could not let an opportunity pass us by, however, to celebrate with our beloved family and friends. We look forward to saying our vows once more and our celebration one year later in Pennsylvania with you all! We chose this specific location and time of year as it is the same place and season that Kathryn's grandparents got married 71 years ago. We love you all and cannot wait for us all to be together!
