This might be our most-frequented establishment in all of New Haven. Come in the morning for a coffee, or stop at the adjacent beverage store at night and sit out on the public patio. Enjoy one of the centers of the East Rock community, you'll see old friends and make some new ones!
We went here on our first date. Actually, we got the coffee to-go, and then walked around downtown New Haven and the Yale campus in the rain for a couple of hours. Hopefully you'll have better weather!
East Rock is both a neighborhood and a literal rock. A walk up some steep stairs (or a short drive via Farnam Dr) will bring you to an overlook over the entire city of New Haven.
We would be remiss if we did not mention New Haven's claim to fame (besides Yale, of course)...the ZA. You out-of-towners have a moral obligation to visit one of New Haven's famous pizza places during your brief stay. The options are endless. Visit Pepe's, Sally's, or Modern for a more classic pie, or One-6-Three for some creative flavors. Or, try the mashed potato pizza (bacon optional) from BAR. It's delicious.
