Yeah...we know. People have questions. But, really, it'll be sort of similar to the regular flow of a wedding...but also a little different. The ceremony will be first — please be in your seat so we can get started at 3:15 pm. (Real 3:15 pm EDT. Not 3:15 Ultimate Standard Time...) After we take care of the business of actually getting married, we'll have refreshments, yard games, ultimate games and more until dinner time (starting around 6 pm). The reception will wrap up at 9...but if you're looking to keep the party going, we're heading about 15 minutes down the road to TD Karaoke for the After Party! (And FYI: We have private karaoke rooms reserved — it's not an open bar with a stage situation.)
The dress code is casual. (We really mean it! Promise!!) We will be outside on grass, so we recommend flats. Otherwise, from jeans to sun dresses...truly whatever makes you happy. And check the weather — it's still really warm here, but (every once in a while...) it's starting to feel like fall is coming and you might want an extra layer after the sun goes down. If you plan to play ultimate frisbee, you have options! If you want to wear regular clothes to the ceremony and change into ultimate gear for the game, that is possible. We're also planning on having a very low-key casual game that you can absolutely participate in wearing most regular clothes. We suspect there will be a wide range of attire (so you basically can't go wrong!) and that is totally fine with us — what's most important is that you're there to celebrate with us! Wear what makes you feel most comfortable.
Not really. We're planning to play without cleats. That said, you may want to bring them if convenient. If you don't feel comfortable without them, please just be aware that not everyone will be wearing them and we will have some new players...so play accordingly. Or, as the night goes on, the game may get more competitive and we could decide as a group to switch to cleats.
Absolutely! We've got a fun day planned with lots of kid-friendly activities.
Totally! We'll have some guides available with the basics for newbies...plus some veteran players in attendance who will be to teach you to throw, etc. And we'll probably start with some mini games that will be easier for beginners to get a handle on things.
There's plenty of parking available. There is a parking lot right at Hunter House where the ceremony and reception will be held. If the Hunter House parking lot fills up, continue a little further into Nottoway Park and there are several other parking lots — it'll be just a short walk up to Hunter House.
Not quite...Hunter House/Nottoway Park are about 1.5 miles away from the Vienna Metro on the Orange Line.
Well...if you see a sort of sad-looking strip mall with a Chinese grocery store and storage units, then yes!
If you drive to the wedding and then decide it's best not to drive home, that's fine — please feel free to leave your car in the parking lot overnight.
