We have known each other for over 10 years and met through an organization called Chrysalis. It is a spiritual retreat for high school students, and we have both been involved since we were in high school. We have known each other over the years, and neither of us ever thought we would start dating, much less get married! But in the beginning of 2017, Kathleen put it out there that she really enjoyed having Zach as a friend and may be interested in seeing what more there could be. We began dating in March of 2017, and as they say, the rest is history!
One of our favorite places to go is Busch Gardens. After a stressful few months, I (Kathleen) asked Zach if we could go to Opening Day together as something fun to look forward to. Zach agreed, and surprised me with the tickets as a Valentine's Day gift. Opening Day was March 24, and we asked my sister and her fiance to join us for a double date. Tradition has it that Zach and I always ride Apollo's Chariot first. When we got to the ride, Zach "couldn't find his phone". He started digging around in his pockets and the backpack we were using. He "found" his phone, handed it to my sister, and then pulled out the ring box and got down on one knee! It was the perfect spot and so fun to hear people clapping and cheering after I said YES!
