They both attended a Halloween House Party held by a mutual friend with their roommates, where they briefly first met. They were making some drinks in the kitchen, when the conversation started, all guessing and joking about each others costumes, while introducing themselves. They decided to team up for a game once the current game ended at the ping pong table; However, right before they were able to play, the party came to an abrupt end, and everyone left. A year passed before they met the second time. Kat and her roommates all got together for their first night out to celebrate the beginning of their Senior year. While they were downtown Kat looked over to see a familiar face standing in the bar, and asked her roommate if she remembered him from the Halloween party. They argued over what the names were of the two guys, and eventually Kat decided to settle the argument, and went over to find out. She decided to go against her gut, and went with her roommates choice, asking if his name was "Travis.... or Steve", (Steve being his friend with "the good hair," she mentioned in hopes that he wouldn't think she was totally crazy). He gave her a look that made her believe she was totally crazy, before he clarified and said "It's Trever." She exclaimed, she knew it was "Trever," but her roommate convinced her otherwise. From there, they reintroduced themselves, and spent the whole night talking having fun like they had known each other for years. The next day, they went on a casual first date, and spent the afternoon talking more and hanging out at the pool. The next two weeks they managed to hangout everyday with ease, and from there the conversations never stopped!

Back in March of 2018, Kathleen first learned of the ring's existence, when their mischievous puppy, emptied the contents of Trever's memorabilia box that he stored in the closet. Kat arrived home first, and angrily cleaned the mess until panic set in. She noticed Trever's mother's ring was missing the main stone and feared the dog had swallowed it! She called Trever twice with no answer and continued to search the box to see if the stone had fallen when the dog jostled the contents of the box around. When she removed the next layer of the box , it wasn't the stone that caught her eye, but a envelope from "Diamonds Direct." That's when she knew she wasn't suppose to find that box. They talked about it, and Trever told Kat that it wouldn't be for another year or two before that was even a thought, but little did she know he had other plans in mind! They spent a vacation with Kat's familiy in June, where Trever snuck off to ask her parent's permission and drove home the following afternoon. It was the last day of vacation and just as they were about to relax and wind down for the night, Trever asked Kat to go out for ice cream. She had other plans in mind already in pajamas and fought him hard, until he left to sit in the car waiting for her to come out. She finally came out clearly unhappy about the midnight trip for ice cream, and missed the subtle hints Trever dropped as pointed out the places where they had their first date, and said "I love you for the first time," as they passed by. Trever then pulled the car into a park on the outskirts of downtown and Kat's mind started to wonder. When he finally parks the car, in front of us stood the bright City Skyline telling the story of how we began, places we watched our love grow, and where our future is...
