Hi! We’re Patrick and Kathleen (as you probably know if you’re on this website). We are getting married! Our love story is a funny one in the way that neither of us could tell you for certain when the first time we met was. We both remember being in middle school chorus together, but our moms remember meeting when we were in the Town of Islip tennis camp at Cassamento. Regardless of the timeline, we became friends. In high school, we took the same bus. Senior year, we drove to school together every day. We would tease each other constantly, and no one would’ve predicted how the story would play out. We stayed in touch throughout our first two years of college, but in 2020 an unprecedentedly long spring break brought everyone back to their hometowns. We became closer than ever. We would walk around late night and talk about how the world works. We were best friends, but we knew this break wouldn’t last forever. We went back to school. I went to nursing school and he went to finish his Bachelor’s in Engineering. We stayed in touch and saw each other on breaks and that one time I picked him up from Hartford and drove to Bridgeport for a Islanders pre-season game because he was “my only friend in Connecticut.” In 2023, Patrick asked me to his date to ΔΣΦ’s spring-formal. I so excitedly called my dad who was with his frat brothers. They were almost more excited to tell me that it “used to be called the Coronation.” Little did I know that a frat formal would be a catalyst to our future. On April 23, 2022, at the formal, after a little bit of liquid courage, Patrick walked me outside, gave me his jacket and asked me to be his girlfriend. Since then, life has changed in big ways. I am a RN at Pilgrim Psychiatric Center and Patrick is a Service Engineer at Star CNC. We both moved out and started our careers. However, one thing will stay the same. We are best friends. On October 5, 2024 we went on an Oktoberfest beer cruise up the Hudson River to Bear Mountain. In secret, he asked my parents for blessing. As we were walking through the park, he stopped me near the lake. He got down on one knee, pulled out a ring, and asked me to be his wife. I said “yes.” We are so beyond excited to invite the people we love to join us in celebrating our love, our union, and the next chapter of our lives.
