We're getting married!

Kate and Nik first crossed paths in their freshman year of college—two faces among many strangers navigating a brand-new chapter of life. The two shared different friend groups, and it wasn’t until the spring semester that Kate and Nik truly began to notice each other. As both grew more involved in the university’s Filipino club, casual hellos turned into real conversations, and a quiet connection began to form—one that they both felt from the moment they first laid eyes on each other.

Kate and Nik continued to grow closer throughout their sophomore year of college. One day, overwhelmed by classes, work, and extracurriculars, Kate sent a message in a large group chat with friends asking if anyone could grab her lunch. The chat stayed silent except for one reply... Nik knocked on her door, smiling, with her favorite food—salmon sushi! From that moment on, something shifted. It just felt natural to be around each other. Deep down, they both knew it was already becoming something more.

The “just friends” chapter slowly transformed into a slow-burning romance. On a breezy day at Long Branch Beach in NJ—the same place as the photos above—Nik asked Kate to be his girlfriend. The ocean was calm, the sky wide open, and both hearts full. Since that day, the couple have shared over six—and counting—wonderful years together. And the love continues to grow stronger.

Nik knew that when the time came, the proposal had to be magical, so he planned the perfect moment: beneath a sky glowing with lanterns, he asked Kate to marry him, letting her live out her Tangled dream surrounded by light and love. In that moment, it felt like just the two of them enveloped with embers of bright orange and yellow light. And, of course, Kate said YES! From strangers, to friends, to lovers... and now, soulmates. We’re so grateful for every moment that brought us here, and even more excited for all that’s still to come!
