This is the story of the most nerve-wracking and best day of my life. I had known for a while that Kathleen was my soulmate, and after coming to the conclusion that she could handle my quirks and nuances, I had decided to purchase a ring as a symbol of my never-ending love for her. The next piece of the equation was choosing a picturesque location for the proposal - one that was pretty enough for the most beautiful girl in the universe (sorry guys....I know this is getting really gross). At this time, we had recently made plans to travel to Amsterdam. Kathleen had always wanted to visit the Keukenhof Tulip Gardens, so I made sure to book tickets for this tour ahead of time. I started thinking to myself, what better place to solidify our future together than Keukenhof? So it was decided - but this is where it gets tricky. I knew that I wanted to get some candid photos of the occasion, but I wasn't sure how to do so in a foreign country, apart from hoping to find an overly helpful stranger. In comes Christina's cousin, Karl (thanks Karl!). Now, Karl lived a short plane-ride away from Amsterdam in Brighton, and agreed to meet us, unbeknownst to Kathleen, to capture the moment. The Keukenhof Gardens was a few hour bus-ride away from where we were staying, and we were on a timed-tour, so everything had to be timed perfectly. Of course, that didn't quite happen. For starters, Karl's flight was delayed about an hour in the morning. I wasn't overly concerned yet because we had an hour to burn, but not much more. To complicate matters further, I had terrible reception on my cell phone, and was only getting updates from Karl when I would sneak into the bathroom inside a building that had wi-fi. I could only go to the bathroom so many times without Kathleen knowing something was up. Down to the wire, with only about 20 minutes of our tour left, I finally spotted Karl in disguise, got down on 1 knee, and prayed for a 'yes.' The rest is history (phew!)
