"Just turn the car around," Katherine sighed, "we're never going to find it." Her mother, "Momma Ripps", wasn't going to give up searching for the venue of the party celebrating the launch of her Bed Sheets business. "We'll take one more loop, then head home." Thankfully, the two eventually found their way. Meanwhile, at the office just three floors above the event, Michael was preparing to head home when a co-worker exclaimed "There's free beer on the 9th floor!" Michael and the Jebbit Team had heard enough. They made their way in, uninvited. At this point, Katherine and Michael had both made it to the party. Michael, while searching for a Harpoon IPA, instead saw Katherine. She was standing with her "boss," which meant striking up a conversation would be difficult at best. Thankfully, a mutual friend made her way to Katherine. This was Michael's chance. He made his way over and managed to strike up a conversation. Katherine and Michael left that evening without knowing the other's last name, but knowing something was different. Luckily, the mutual friend played matchmaker and helped arrange their first date two months later. It was the first of many great dates: a day of exploring the city together, laughing constantly, and struggling to find a gap in conversation. There wasn't a doubt in either mind, this would be the first of many dates. In fact, the next year would feature countless Amtrak tickets between Boston and Providence, as Katherine and Michael made the "middle distance relationship" work. Five years later, in August of 2019, they were engaged in Woods Hole, where they frequently enjoyed summer getaways and where Katherine grew up spending her summers. As they look forward to their big day in July, Katherine and Michael enjoy looking back on the day they met, which may never have happened without Beantown Bedding and Beer!
