This is the site of Mindie's inspiration to connect us, the venue of our first race together, and a place we hold special in our hearts.

In the Spring of 2016, Tony and his dad were backpacking in Big Basin for the first time. They met another group of first-time backpackers led by Mindie. They all became friends over the miles on the trail. Mindie was planning more hiking trips in the summer so she and Tony stayed in touch. Fast forward six months later, to the starting corral of the Spartan World Championship Beast course at Squaw Valley. Mindie turned to a fellow racer and asked her to snap a picture of the team. When Kat handed back the phone, Mindie offered to reciprocate. However, Kat was attempting to run her first solo Beast that day. MIndie exclaimed, "No team?!? Why don't you stick with us? It is a rough course." Around mile six, Mindie asked Kat if she was single. Mindie said with a smile: "Because I know a guy...He's a real gem." Within the next thirty days, Mindie had connected Kat and Tony on Messenger, planned an indoor rock climb event, and even arranged for equal numbers to ensure they would be paired off. MIndie's intuition was right on and from that first meeting she kicked off an incredible journey filled with happiness and love!
