We first met where most boys and girls meet in this day and age: on the robotics team. We were good friends for a while, but when we wound up in the same classes the coming year, we knew that we (literally) had chemistry together. After a few outings as friends, Matt asked Katherine to coffee after their PSATs, and the rest is history!
Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on who you ask,) high school can’t last forever. Matt got his acceptance to WPI in the spring of 2016, and Katherine got her acceptance to Johns Hopkins that fall. They both knew they wanted to get an education, but they also knew they wanted to stay together- a daunting task, but one they were prepared for. The time apart was hard, but with regular calls, lots of messaging, and visits over every break, they were able to persevere until...
Luckily, long-distance didn’t have to last forever! Katherine found a job in Boston’s bustling biotech industry, and she was up here and living with Matt as soon as they could manage. After just a few weeks, Matt took her ring shopping “just to have a look around” (yeah, right) and had one ordered the very next day. After a romantic 7th anniversary, Matt got down on one knee and asked her to marry him- and of course she said yes. This part of the story is still being written, but their hopes are high!
