What started as 7th-grade classmates turned into our forever. At the time, Kris wasn't the best student and didn't care much to get great grades. His mom wanted him to get into a Marine Magnet school since he was so into fishing and the outdoors. Katherine has always loved the ocean the life it holds. She was happy to have a mom who supported her decision to go to the Marine Magnet school that was out of her district. She started at New River Middle in sixth grade. Kris had tried to get in for sixth grade but his grades weren't good enough. He got a tutor and worked hard to get his grades up. Then, at the end of sixth grade, he reapplied to the magnet school and received confirmation that he could attend New River Middle School for 7th grade. For Kris, it was a new experience and with that came making new friends. He was lucky enough to have Katherine in some of his classes. After seeing her for the first time, he felt something he though he could only feel from fishing or the outdoors, he began to feel something in his heart. Throughout the year, this feeling kept growing stronger and stronger. They were both shy so they didn't speak much while they were in school unless they were joking or insulting each other. But outside of school, things were completely different. Every minute from the sound of the last bell, to the next morning on the way to school they would talk all the time. Through the years they kept in touch and would talk on and off. But since Kris lived in Deerfield and Katherine lived in Hollywood, they couldn't really see each other. The distance and being unable to drive kept them apart. In 2019 they finally reconnected. It had been years since they had spoken but it was as if nothing had changed. All those feelings they had for one other had never gone away. They decided to meet up in person and they had talked as if no time had passed and picked up right where they left off. Since then, they've been together and have been happier than ever before. It's funny, in 7th grade Kris told Katherine he would marry her one day and now here they are, getting ready to tie the knot.
Like any good relationship, you need to have some opposites to attract. Katherine loves all things scary and spooky and Kris hates it. But no matter what plague or disease across the world, what always runs true and hasn't changed since the start of time is that love waits for nothing and no one. During the peak of the coronavirus Kris had a plan to ask Katherine to marry him. He wanted to do it in a time of year she loves, surrounded by things she loves. So he chose to do it in October since that's the 'spooky' month. He wanted to think of something smooth but also true to say and in a place he knew she would love. He thought about doing it on the beach or after a romantic dinner, but that all seemed to plain. She's too special of a girl to do something that's been done a million times before. He thought and thought again, then it came to him. A pumpkin patch. She would never expect it. Unfortunately, the place he originally wanted to pop the question at was closed that year due to the pandemic. He did some research and found a cute little place he thought she would like. On October 24th, a week before Halloween, they went to the patch in search of pumpkin; or so she thought. They walked around searching for the right one. That's when Kris dropped down on one knee and pulled out a small pumpkin with a gorgeous ring around the stem and said something from the heart. "October is spooky, but the scariest thing to me is living my life without you. Will you marry me? " Katherine was so in shock by what had happened but she said yes, of course. He has tricked her into marrying him, now being with her will be his treat.
