~story from Katherine’s point of view~ I started working as a flight attendant at the end of 2013. After living in a crash pad in Miami for six months, I found a spare bedroom to rent in Ft. Lauderdale with another flight attendant, Jill. Jill had two daughters who were away at college, but at some point they were home for a school break, and were hanging out with their two cousins, Jon and Tyler. They were all going to a Miami Marlins baseball game and invited me. I joined, chatted a lot with Jon about surfing, and ended up hanging out with him at the beach the following morning to go snorkeling. We were just new friends and would remain friends for a couple more years, but that’s how we initially met. A year or two later, Jon went to PT school in St. Augustine, and I was back home living with my parents. We’d text occasionally or run into each other around town, but it wasn’t until 2018 that Jon reached out and asked if I wanted to grab drinks and catch up. We met at Old Coast Ales, I drank some high percentage beers, and we finally broke out of the friendzone. A couple months into dating, I transferred bases and moved to LA for a year. During that time, Jon was doing his PT internships in three different cities for a few weeks at a time, so we did a lot of cross country flying to see each other. At the end of 2019, Jon graduated from PT school, accepted a job in Palm Beach Gardens, and we moved to Jupiter together. We lived in Jupiter for two years, but eventually moved up to the Space Coast for better surf and to be a little closer to home. In June of 2021 we adopted our perfect baby, Lita and became dog parents. And June 9th, 2023, Jon proposed to me on the beach at home (with Lita, of course). We’ve done a lot of traveling together and have lived in lots of different homes over the years, and we hope to have many more adventures in the years to come. We can’t wait to get married and celebrate our biggest adventure yet with all of our closest friends and family!
