Joey and I met through mutual friends on my 17th birthday. The night we met we discovered that our families lived right down the street from one another on the Seacoast of New Hampshire, and we spent that summer falling in love on the shore of Jenness State Beach. Almost 10 years later, we have dated long distance across the country, graduated together from the College of Charleston, owned a business together, traveled the world together, and purchased a home together on the NH Seacoast where it all began.

Once we had made our official move home from Charleston to New England, on a beautiful fall afternoon, Joey took me to my absolute favorite place in the world - Cape Elizabeth, ME. When Melissa and I were younger, my family spent a week in Cape Elizabeth every summer, in the most idyllic cottage, overlooking the ocean and rocky Maine coastline. On Saturday, October 11th, Joey took me to the Lobster Shack, my family's favorite Cape Elizabeth restaurant, just steps down the street from our adorable rental cottage. We were joined for lunch by Joey's sister, Sarah, her boyfriend Casey, and my sister, Melissa. After lunch, we walked down the rocks along the water to say 'hello' to our old house. My sister offered to take our picture in front of the house, and in that moment Joey turned to me and got down on one knee. It was the easiest 'YES' I have ever said!
