I absolutely love fall – the air changes and becomes crisp and fresh signaling the beginning of the harvest and a time of natural renewal. But by far the best thing about fall is the foliage. The trees change colors to vibrant yellows, reds, and oranges it’s simply stunning. I must admit I’m mildly obsessed with the trees and their colors. When James and I first met, I mentioned in passing that seeing the fall foliage was something on my bucket list. I just HAD to see the trees in all their glory. Little did I know that several years later, James would mark the trees off my list. In October 2019, we flew to Pennsylvania and drove up the East Coast visiting as many friends and family members as we could. The skies were a little gray and it rained quite a bit, however, I was still in awe with the beauty of the trees. They were dressed to impress and put on a glorious show. To get the best view of the trees, James had planned a hiking/camping trip for us. We went to Alander Mountain in the Hudson Valley. The hike was breathtaking, nay, magical; the enormous trees warm and vibrant in shades of oranges, reds, and yellows mixed in with deep earthy live greens. We hiked a few miles up the mountain to a shelter and set up camp. James then took me up to the top of the mountain for a view of the sunset, remembering my love affair with the autumn leaves and their colors. We were standing chatting about life and adventures while watching the sun contribute more glorious colors to the mix; beautiful shades of pinks, purples, and blues. In that last little bit of sunlight, James looked at me, got one knee and asked me if I would adventure with him for the rest of our lives as his wife. Of course, I said YES! Here’s to a lifetime of adventures, cheers!
