If you know Kat at all, you know she could’ve been a detective in another life. She is persistent as all get out and will go to (almost) any length to find the facts, or in this case, get her man. Queue James Haddock. It was Kat’s sophomore year and James’ first year at Arkansas. He decided to play for the school’s ice hockey team and Kat coincidentally happened to be friends with a few of his new teammates. It was no question that the first time Kat saw James, she had to know more. Luckily her friends on the team hosted many... get togethers which provided Kat many opportunities to get to know James on more of a personal level. There was just one little problem: James was a harder case to crack than she thought. Good thing Kat isn’t quick to give up! She persevered every chance she got to break through that shell of his, along with a little harmless stalking, and one night, she finally cracked the code: they discovered their shared love for puppies. On that same night, Kat was at her apartment with her roommate hoping she would hear from James and after some anticipation, she did. A picture of a golden retriever puppy sent to Kat’s phone. She had never been so excited to see a picture of a dog she didn’t even know and all that mattered was that James was the messenger. Little did they know, a simple picture started something that was so much bigger than themselves: a relationship and a bond with each other that would last a lifetime. After that, it wasn’t long before they both knew they didn’t want to grow, laugh, and do life with anyone but each other. Along the way they have experienced challenges that have made them stronger and lessons that have made them wiser, together. They have stood with each other through hard times and great times, loved on their pup Jax together, and shared their lives with each other. Quite frankly after one message, the rest was history!
