Our Story

Kat and Collin look forward to a life of love and a wonderful marriage, and they could not be more excited to celebrate it with you! Their story starts in a not-so romantic place—a class on ethical philosophy at Indiana University. The professor was always late, which gave Kat and Collin a lot of time to chat with each other before each lecture. They felt like old friends right from the start, but neither understood the other’s feelings. Collin thought she was out of his league, and Kat thought he wasn’t interested. Eventually the class came to a close without either one realizing how the other truly felt. The story gets more romantic the following April, just in time for Kat and Collin to find themselves on two different continents! Kat flew back to her hometown in Florida and Collin left to study abroad in Barcelona, and the couple talked for hours every day. Collin showed her everything he saw in Spain, but none of it was quite as exciting as what waited for him back in the US. Neither of them had ever been happier. Kat and Collin lit up each other’s lives even from a distance—an early sign that their relationship would last. Reunited that fall, they were inseparable for senior year. They signed up for classes together and spent every free moment together. Collin fell in love with Kat’s mini poodle, Tobi, and they bonded instantly. Kat also showed Collin the dazzling productions offered by IU’s Jacobs School of Music, getting him front-row seats to see how an opera singer prepares for such a production when Kat got selected to be in an opera called Ainadamar. In the last portion of their senior year, they adopted a kitten: Arlo, who rounded out their young family! Before long, neither could remember how they’d ever lived without the other. After graduation, Kat enrolled at Notre Dame Law and Collin at Maurer, three-and-a-half hours apart! But the distance didn’t matter, and they made every effort to support each other and visit as much as possible. For almost three years, they have seen each other every other weekend, and spent almost every holiday together in Indy or Jupiter. They even got to spend two summers working full time in the same city! Summer 2024 was in Chicago, where they worked for the county and explored the city together. The next summer saw them in DC, getting a taste of the work they'll spend their careers doing. Back at school, the distance wasn’t all bad–they got double the law school dances! Even separated by almost two-hundred miles, the couple grew closer every day. Neither one could’ve gotten through it without the other. But wait, we can’t move on from the law school years without mentioning the most important thing: In September 2024, after secretly working with a jeweler in Chicago over the summer, Collin proposed to Kat at a quiet lakeside spot in South Bend. Collin had known he wanted to marry Kat for a long time, and he'd been thinking about her ring for months. He admired the jewelry she had, designed and hand-made by her grandfather, a goldsmith. Collin and the jeweler designed an engagement ring with motifs from those heirlooms, ensuring that the ring matched Kat’s jewelry honoring her heritage. Now, with graduation approaching and their wedding coming soon after, Kat and Collin look forward to a bright, devoted future together. They’re beyond grateful to have found each other, and they cannot wait to start their married life. Undoubtedly, this is all the prelude to a long, prosperous, laugh-filled life together. Before all that, though, comes the wedding! Kat and Collin want to thank you for joining them to celebrate their marriage, and they can’t wait to see you there on August 15!
