Katherine was intrigued by Chris when he described his taste in music by saying, "I'm a blues man". We met for drinks at Katherine's favorite neighborhood bar, Freeman's Grub & Pub. We sat corner window table and talked for hours. We both knew this was the start of something great.

Our first trip together was hiking with Chris's dog Layla at Mount Mitchell for Katherine's 26th birthday. Chris knew there was no better place for a surprise proposal than to take our dogs, Huck and Yogi, for a hike back to Mount Mitchell for Katherine's 29th birthday. The park was *technically* closed, but we started off on the trail and hiked 6 miles to the peak. At the very top of the observation deck, Chris told Katherine there is no one he'd rather spend his life with. Katherine very gladly said, "YES!"

We are having a small, private ceremony reserved for our parents and siblings. We are so thrilled to celebrate with everyone at our reception at The McAlister-Leftwich House!
