On August 8, 2019 the UNC Chapel Hill Graduate Chemistry Department hosted a social event for graduate chemistry students at He's Not Here, a popular spot to grab a drink in Chapel Hill. Katherine was entering her first year at UNC. Cam was entering his second year and on a mission to collect "blue cups", the infamously large cup He's Not Here provided drinks in. Oh, it should also be mentioned that he was attempting to meet new analytical chemists as he was set to be their teaching assistant for their upcoming graduate analytical lab. A few cups in, a slightly tipsy Cam spotted Katherine, sat across from her and began unloading information about her upcoming year for hours (without her asking of course). Little did she know, she would be marrying this babbling chemist 4 years later. Cam waited until the semester was over to ask Katherine (very awkwardly) to go on a date with him. On January 18th, 2020, Cam and Katherine went on their first date to Dave and Busters in Cary, NC, a very fitting spot for two competitive graduate students. It was a night of Mario Kart, air hockey, Skee ball and eventually led to Netflix, where they binge-watched all available seasons of "You" - a fitting show for a first date. Since that night, Cam knew that he wanted Katherine in his life forever. Along their journey, they added two perfect pups to the family - Athena and Apollo. Now, they are looking forward to a lifetime of love, happiness, and great adventures.
