On July 13th 2019, Caleb and I went on our first date. We had decided to watch the movie "Yesterday". A cheesy rom-com movie about a guy who goes to an alternate universe where the Beatles don't exist. He steals their songs and claims them as his own. It was the perfect movie for a casual first date. Everything was going as planned but when we walked into the theater, I got a text from my sister that my dad would be seeing a movie at the same theater. I didnt think too much of it at first. I got a second message from her informing me that he would be seeing the movie, "Yesterday". I immediately realized that my dad had coincidentally booked the same movie showing! I got so nervous that my dad would be in the same room as me on my first date with a guy I just met. I couldnt hide my nerves and I told Caleb my dad would probably show up. He immediately got nervous and started hiding. I told him that this was unplanned. I was so nervous that this situation would scare Caleb away. Luckily, the theater was dark when my dad walked in and he didnt see us in the back of the theater. After the movie, Caleb and I shared a stroll to Walmart and had some okay tacos but we had fun in the end. After the date, I knew he was someone that I wanted in my life :)
The day started with us walking up the boardwalk at Belmont Park. We took pictures when we were so young, I hadn’t grown facial hair really well yet xD. We also had matching necklaces at the time with the Yin Yang sign. I never took it off until it finally fell apart from getting rusted from the shower. Later that night, we went to the shores of the beach. It was so intimate we were basically the only ones there. We had the sounds of waves washing up on shore and retreating back to the ocean on repeat. It was truly calm and perfect. I was wrapped around Katherine with a blanket to keep us warm. It was nice and cozy. For a while neither of us said anything. We just enjoyed the sounds and atmosphere around us. Then, Katherine turned to me and created a moment I’ll never forget. She said, “I think I love you”. I felt so happy and warm I hugged her tighter. I remember saying, “I think I love you too”. And then we continued to look out into the ocean. Later, we went to my car and hung out. We used to hangout there a lot because I wasn’t great at planning longer dates but I still wanted to spend time with her. I took a nap in her lap and then later we went to a Mexican food place nearby. I’ll never forget that day (:
