How We Met

April 7, 2017

Our story starts with a wedding, how fitting. We were both asked to be in two of our dearest friends’ wedding in Kentucky. The Bride and Groom rented out an entire cabin for the bridesmaids and groomsmen to stay at that weekend. The whole time prior to their wedding, I never found a date to take, which now I am forever thankful for. The weekend of the wedding started off with everyone getting to the cabin, and the Groom’s family preparing a tasty rehearsal dinner. The bridesmaids and groomsman all set together and got to know each other. Brad and I introduced ourselves to each other. I remember thinking to myself he is pretty handsome, and he is a fireman, so he actually cares about people! We spent the rest of the night hanging out, and I got to see the first glimpse of Brad’s famous dance moves. The next day was the wedding. We were paired to walk down the aisle together. We danced the whole time during the reception. The next day everyone was getting ready to go home. Brad and I were swinging on a swing outside. He asked me for my number. I remember saying yeah “as long as you don’t call me all the time”. Needless to say, four long hard days later, I got a text from Brad saying “You never said anything about texting.”

The Proposal

December 17, 2018

Brad and I had been planning on going on a trip after I graduated with my Masters. We decided to go to Las Vegas and The Grand Canyon. I graduated on a Saturday, and our flight left the next day at 6:00am. I’m telling you that jetlag was awful! I had been spending a lot of time planning out activities for us to do. While we were at The Grand Canyon, I knew I had to see the sunrise over the canyon. I researched the best place to view the sunrise. The night before I looked up the time for sunrise, approximately 7:20am. My intense OCD planning had us getting to the sunrise spot a good hour before, you never know what could happen. We got there a little after 6am. Needless to say, it was very dark, and no one else was there. Luckily, we had flashlights and a selfie-stick. As it got closer to sunrise, more people came (Brad and I were definitely the only Americans). After sunrise, Brad asked me “Do you wanna get married?” I was like “Wait are you asking me?” Brad pulled out a ring out of his jacket pocket! It was perfect!
