Payton and Katherine’s story began in March 2021. Payton’s friend, Spencer New, invited Katherine to join Payton for a formal in New Orleans. Knowing that her friend Massey Quiggle would also be there, she agreed—and what started as a simple invitation quickly became something much more. Before the trip, they went on their first date at Cinco de Mayo in Lexington, followed by a Chi Omega date party where Payton quickly won over Katherine’s friends. A few weeks later, they traveled to New Orleans together for formal weekend, and from there, their relationship continued to grow. They never thought being dates for a formal would become a lasting love, built on laughter, and a genuine joy in doing life together. They officially started dating on May 8, 2021—after Katherine may or may not have turned Payton down the first time. The two spent the rest of their years at the University of Kentucky making memories, supporting one another, and building a foundation for a future they wanted together. After graduation, Katherine moved to Nashville while Payton moved to Atlanta. Although distance separated them for a few years, their love only grew stronger. Through countless miles, Facetimes, and weekend visits, they learned that no matter where life took them, they were always happiest together. Today, they are grateful to be reunited in Nashville and excited for this next chapter! On October 19, 2025, Payton’s birthday, he proposed at Castle & Key. This time, Katherine said yes immediately! As they look ahead to their wedding day, Payton and Katherine are especially thankful for God's perfect timing throughout their journey. They are deeply grateful for the love, encouragement, and constant support of their families and friends, who have been alongside them every step of the way. They cannot wait to celebrate with the people they love most and begin this new chapter together as husband and wife!
